Samsung LE22A457 Review: 22 Inch HD Ready Digital LCD Television

While the early versions of the television set were made using cathode ray tubes, today's television sets are slimmer, lighter, and occupy lesser space. Among the most popular television variants today include LCD's, or liquid crystal display TV sets. An LCD TV uses liquid crystal technology, to produce sharper, more vivid images. LCD television sets are also lighter and thinner than cathode ray sets, and offer other practical interoperable features too. With lower manufacturing costs and increased production, LCD TV sets have eventually gained dominance of the TV market today.

What Are The Disadvantages of LCD TV Sets?

While LCD television sets are the most widely produced and sold variants today, compared to Plasma TV sets, they do have their fair share of flaws and quirks. According to television experts, these TV types are relatively inefficient when it comes to power use per display size, since the large majority of light is produced at the back of the screen, and is blocked once it reaches the viewer. Here's a review of the Samsung LE22A457.

Does The Samsung LE22A457 Have Any Drawbacks?

While this Samsung television is a very smart-looking compact TV with a superior picture quality, some customers have mentioned a couple of drawbacks to using it. Some viewers have complained of a little motion blurs especially on fast moving action or sport sequences. Whenever you're watching Freeview though, you may need to boost the signal by suing an antenna booster, especially in some areas, although it offers better picture quality with Blu-Ray and regular DVD's.

Some TV owners have also ranted about the Samsung LE22A457's less than expected sound quality, a swell as the limited connection capabilities. For small and medium-sized rooms though, the TV set's sound levels would be more then enough. The limited connections though may be a bit distressing, since there are no white and red jack plugs which serve as audio outputs. However, if you connect your iPod or MP3 player to it, the sound quality is exceptional though. This TV may also work fully well with old home cinema systems, therefore you may need to connect it via the yellow video lead to achieve better picture quality.

In summary though, the Samsung LE22A457 is a good deal for its price range. Many buyers say they'd probably give it a five-star rating, if not for its less-than desired sound quality. However, for general use, this LCD TV set is worth the price, although you may need to connect it to something else if you want to watch your favourite action movie.

ViewSonic PJD6531w WXGA Wide DLP Projector -120Hz/3D Ready, 3000 Lumens, 3200:1 DCR, HDMI

ViewSonic PJD6531w WXGA Wide DLP Projector -120Hz/3D Ready, 3000 Lumens, 3200:1 DCR, HDMI Review

Me an a buddy both bought one of these projectors, so I have seen two in use in two different environments. I have mine in a basement that allows me to control the lighting where his is in his living room that has a lot of ambient light during the day. The projector exceeds expectations in the dark and is above average in the daytime. It still is a projector so direct light will kill the picture. The fan can be heard, but once the move/game/tv is playing you will not notice. I also painted my wall instead of buying a screen. I would suggest a gray color not white for this projector. Behr silverscreen is a good choice. Something like an eggshell. It really helped the colors pop.

Lastly, Amazon is promoting this as a 120hz, it is not the same as a 120hz tv. 120hz is only available through vga cable and at a certain resolution. Don't expect the 120z while using a blu-ray. I didn't take off a star because the manufacturer doesn't advertise it as a feature, just amazon.

Best AV Receivers For the Money

AV receivers are the core of a home theater system, processing incoming audio/video signals from sources such as Blu-ray players, CD players, and satellite boxes and then distributing them to your TV and surround sound speakers. But with so many models drastically ranging in price and features, choosing the best one for your home theater room can be a difficult task. In addition to price, there are many important criteria to consider such as sound quality, video processing performance, number of HDMI inputs and outputs, and features. Here's a look at some of the best AV receivers on the marketplace in three distinct segments.

Best all-around AV Receivers
The best AV receivers overall provide the perfect blend of price and performance while providing the features most consumers want. The best all-around is the Pioneer VSX-1020-K, which offers excellent audio and video performance for the price. It's also packed with 6 3D-capable HDMI 1.4 inputs, ensuring this receiver is "future-proof." The VSX-1020-K has terrific iPod/iPhone integration, allowing users to playback music from their devices while viewing album art on their TV using the included cable. Pioneer has also released an iPhone app that allows you to control the receiver using your iPhone.

Another top choice is the Onkyo TX-SR608, which sells for around $499 online. Just like the Pioneer, this receiver is 3D ready with 6 HDMI 1.4 inputs. It also offers excellent audio performance, as indicated by its THX Select2 Plus certification, an award usually only reserved for higher-priced models. Video performance, which is handled by the Faroudja DCDi video chipset, is strong as well; this receiver can upconvert all incoming sources, including analog, to 1080p over the HDMI output.

Best AV Receivers under $500
With the top home theater receiver manufacturers such as Onkyo, Denon and Pioneer continuously raising the bar on performance and features, consumers don't have to spend a fortune for a high quality AV receiver. Since it can be found just under the $500 mark, Onkyo's TX-SR608 is the best all-around pick in this price range for the reasons listed above.

If audio/video performance is your most important criteria, the Denon AVR-1910CI is an ideal choice that's delivers a good mix of performance, features and price. It sounds superb for the price and is equipped with an Anchor Bay video chipset, which does a solid job handling upconversion. The AVR-1910 also features great Audyssey technologies including the MultEQ calibration system, which automatically adjusts speaker settings and levels for your listening environment, Dynamic Volume, which reduces the annoying volume fluctuations during commercials, and Dynamic EQ, which improves audio performance at lower listening levels.

Best High-End AV Receivers
Designed specifically for audio- and video-philes that want the best performance and the most features, high-end AV receivers cost quite a bit more than mid-range offerings but deliver big in those areas. Though you can spend a fortune for a flagship offering such as Denon's $7500 AVP-A1HDC receiver, the company's AVR-4810CI offers superb performance and a terrific feature set at a price that's much easier to stomach. This 9.3 140-watt-per-channel receiver is an excellent choice for those that wish to power a multi-room audio system, to provide enough channels and areas operate a 5.1 surround sound home theater in your main room and 2.1 speaker setups in other rooms. You can also power a 7.1 or 9.1 surround sound system in the main room, with the Audyssey DSX working to create a more immersive experience.

Other highlights of this $ 2,999 receiver including 6 HDMI 1.3a inputs, integrated Wi-Fi to stream Internet radio stations or music from a networked PC and Audyssey MultEQ XT Excellentcalibration system to get the best sound quality.

Is 3D Television Going To Get Even More Popular?

3D movies have been around for a few decades now and has been of dubious quality to say the least. With flimsy glasses, poor picture quality and having to put glasses on and take them off, it's never really took off and achieved the popularity a technology like this should have.

In the last couple of years, technology has advanced significantly with 3D releases of movies such as Avatar, Alice In Wonderland and Toy Story 3. These movies have been hugely successful, so much so in the case of Avatar that it has been released at the cinema for a second time so people can go and see it specifically in 3D!

Over recent months, 3D technology has come to the home in a format that is not only useable but convenient and of high quality. With a combination of high definition and 3D you can watch stunning movies at home.

Now 3D television in the home is still in its infancy and over the next few years we can expect more 3D movie releases and big advances in technology. The big television manufacturers are releasing televisions that incorporate 3D technology and investing heavily in their promotion.

So the question we have to ask, is 3D TV a gimmick or is it a technology that is here to stay?

At the moment 3DTV is a bit of a gimmick. There are only a few televisions that support 3D television and few movies have been released in this format.

However, the future though is a bit different. 3D TV is going to be big with an estimated 60 million units shipped by 2015. Consumers are demanding 3D at the cinema and this will filter down into home demand.

As shipped volumes increase so the price will drop making it more accessible to people. Currently the prices of 3D televisions is high, which puts them out of reach of many people. However, the price is dropping and you will find more and more people adopting the technology.

Sky television has started a 3D television channel in the UK and sports and certain shows are being broadcast in 3D. Whilst the channel isn't on 24 hours a day, it does show that the technology will be around for some time to come.

More and more television manufacturers are teaming up with television channels to offer 3D broadcasting. These alliances are a great sign for the future of 3D telvision and are showing that these companies are putting the money where their mouths are.

On top of this, the video game industry is starting to adopt 3D technology. This is a technology that can change the face of gaming and so there is a race amongst the game console manufacturers to release 3D compatible games.

3D television is a technology that is around to stay. With massive investment by the television companies and demand from the consumers for this entertainment medium it is going to get increasingly popular over the next few years. If prices can come down further then it will speed up adoption of this technology.

Samsung UN55C7000 55-Inch 1080p 240 Hz 3D LED HDTV (Black)

Samsung UN55C7000 55-Inch 1080p 240 Hz 3D LED HDTV (Black) Review

I spent a lot of time reading on-line reviews of this TV and its little brother the 46 inch model before going to a store. I was mostly interested in the downloadable apps and the picture quality. 3D wasn't a primary concern.
I was very concerned as to how glare would affect the picture as I have a south-facing wall of glass behind the viewer that is a real issue in the winter when the sun is low and we are watching football. I had a second generation plasma that was 8 years old and the glare could be enough to force us to TIVO the games and watch them at night.

Well, we bought the 55 inch model and wow, what a picture. It is significantly better than the plasma that we had before. Individual blades of grass stand out perfectly. When the screen is black, the set is a mirror and the glare is significant, but once a non-black picture comes on, the set is capable of reducing the glare to only a very minor issue. This was really beyond what we had hoped for.

We were pleased to find out that the set automatically detected DVDs in our SONY player and switched to the DVD source when one starts to play. My wife is more than a bit technophobic, so less remote fiddling is good.

The apps/widgets are very nice. You get both the Samsung apps and Yahoo apps, so there is quite a variety.

But, and I do mean a big BUT, these are not the coolest thing on the set. Samsung has included a full implementation of DLNA, I think for the first time this year. What is DLNA and what does it matter? It is a fancy set of intials (Digital Living Network Alliance, if it matters) that are a standard for devices accesing data on other computers.
In my house I have a network device that I store videos and music on for the house. I had a dedicated Media Center computer next to my TV to play movies from this and the TV was essentially a display for the computer. Now, the TV gets the files all by itself and the computer is no longer necessary. Essentially, the TV can show a movie on another computer by itself.
Other sets have been able to have PCs play the movie on them using an early version of DLNA, but now you can use your remote to play movies without messing with the computer. This may sound techy, but it is really nice and my wife loves it. Home movies and stored DVDs can be pulled up with just a couple clicks of the remote.

The DLNA was easy to set up. You can download and run a program from Samsung on a Windows machine or run any other DLNA server program on your mac, LINUX or whatever computer. Then you go to the TV and it automatically finds the computer(s) and shows the files. I have a Netgear NAS and it had its own DLNA program that worked first try.

All in all, this is as good of a TV as I could have hoped for.

Panasonic TX-L32G20B Review

Not only is the VIERA line of TVs an innovative product offering ever to be released, this TV also provides you with Internet access. Superior performance and attractive functionality with this model offer high-end image quality paired with economical operation. The Panasonic TX-L32G20B is Panasonics 32 inch LCD model.

NeoPDP technology delivers superior image quality and comes equipped with a plethora of entertainment compatible linking functions. 600Hz Sub-field Drive Intelligent Frame Creation Pro comes on all the G20 models. VIERA LINK, VIERA Image Viewer to playback motion picture and music and 1080 Lines Moving Picture Resolution with Infinite Black (Native Contrast of 5,000,000:1) are features like none seen before.

This flat-panel Panasonic TX-L32G20B LCD TV is the latest release from Panasonic for 2010 and will be shipped sometime in March to a reseller near you. IFC Pro Motion Technology and HD IPS LED LCD Alpha Panel offer a wider aperture ratio and improved contrast with high-moving picture resolution giving the viewer excellent clarity.

Images are rendered brilliantly with enhanced depth and crisp blacks reducing power consumption and allowing a slim case design of only 1.5 inches at its thinnest area.

Achieving motion-picture resolution of 800 lines with 200 back light blinking Intelligent Frame Creation motion images are smooth, crisp and gorgeous. It can be viewed from any angle in the room unlike LCD TVs previously available.

Imagine this; you can now view 3D on your Panasonic TX-L32G20B television in your home with the full-HD image display which uses a frame sequential method to separate images. The 3D eye wear closes and opens left and right shutters alternately for the viewers left and right eyes.

The separated images are then reconstructed by the viewers brain creating FULL HD 3D images. This is like having a movie theater experience in the comfort of your home.

VIERA CAST allows one to view Internet content through your television screen. SKYPE users can view the other partys image on the large VIERA TV screen by connecting an optional camera as if they were in the same room.

The viewer can watch movies through a video-on-demand service on your television screen through the Acetrax feature. Internet content from such sources as Picasa, YouTube and Eurosport can be interactively viewed without the assistance of a computer attached to the television.

By hooking up a dongle device for wireless VIERA CAST you can access USB and WiFi for wireless LAN adapter, keyboard and HDD recording. You can view still and motion images, music and video stored on your PC by transferring them from a USB memory device to your Panasonic TX-L32G20B television. Recording can be done from the VIERA to an external hard drive through the USB port.

Panasonic has even taken sustainability into the equation, they have thought of everything with the inclusion of the Eco Control function. This function will automatically turn off connected devices when the TV is switched off. It sets inactive devices to standby mode thereby conserving energy. Power usage has been measured to be reduced by 35 percent in comparison to last years models.

Saving the environment is also an important issue with Panasonic as the Panasonic TX-L32G20B uses lead-free panels and long-life 100,000 hour panels to save resources.

Why Sony Bravia?

The Sony Bravia is probably the most cutting edge brand of high-definition LCD or Plasma Tvs. Featuring an awesome slim and slick design and advanced technology features that give you the highest possible picture quality. This is combined with surround sound and green technology to help the planet. So you can have a great TV and do your bit for the environment too!

The picture on any Sony Bravia is truly excellent. They always feature an excellent LED Backlight which can give you a great high contrast and brightness which makes the picture appear much better. There is also a low-reflection feature which can help reduce glare no matter where in the room a TV is placed. This is alongside the full HD resolution which as you may know is the current in thing. These days if not HD, its not worth it!

Don't forget that whilst HD may be the thing of the moment, the future is always around the corner. These days most Sony Bravia's are being made 3D ready. There are already a variety of models that come with a couple of pairs of 3D glasses and a built-in 3D transmitter. This is really exciting and a very big reason why you should choose a Sony Bravia over any other HDTV sets.

You can get them in a variety of different sizes, so you can have one in either your bedroom or your living area. The screen sizes at the moment are 22, 26, 32, 40, 46, 52, 55 and 60. The most popular is the 32 inch but the 60 inch really is an amazing model.

It really is worth choosing a Sony Bravia model over the main competitors as these are TVs that will last for a long time and also help you enter the 3D generation before anyone else.

- Expensive Skype Camera (however, it is a must to have)
- For the price of the HDTV, Samsung should included a better remote control with keyboard, like the Samsung RMC30C2."
Pros:

poor remote controller, do not support 3d party options like keybaord

LED TV Versus OLED TV - What Are the Differences?

There are a seemingly endless amount of televisions on the market today. These different kinds of televisions all offer varying types of technologies. These different technologies could easily affect how you enjoy your TV stations, shows, and movies.

LED TVs and OLED TVs are two types of TV technology that are gaining in popularity. Both of these television types have something to offer to your home entertainment system. By looking into the differences and similarities between the two, you will be able to understand the type of TV that is right for you.

What is an LED TV?

The LED in LED TV stands for light-emitting diode. This is a simple light source that has been used for lighting since the 1960s. The LED TV offers lower energy consumption than other types of televisions. It also offers a better picture, and the ability to offer a clear picture.

What is an OLED TV?

OLED stands for "Organic Light Emitting Diode", and is well known for having multiple advantages over other kinds of televisions. These advantages come from the ability of OLEDs to work without a backlight.

The OLED TV works through using OLEDs. These OLEDs emit light through organic compounds. This allows for higher levels of black, and more contrast than other types of televisions.

What is the Same?

There are a lot of similarities to be had between the LED TV and the OLED TV. Both the LED TV and the OLED television feature some of the best contrast levels in the TV market. They both have deeper blacks than other televisions. This means that the black comes across as darker, and contrasts more with the other colors. This helps these other colors to stand out more. Both types of TVs are also thin, and are generally thinner than other types of TVs, including LCD TVs.

What is Different?

There are a few major differences between the two types of televisions. The main differences focuses around the backlight. The LED TV is actually an LED backlit LCD TV, utilizing LEDs for the perfect backlighting. OLED TVs, on the other hand, do not need a backlight to operate.

The LED technology is relatively old when compared to OLED technology. OLED TVs are newer, and are using the most recent form of LED technology. With LED technology, the lights are bright white and are forced through a color filter. With OLED TVs, each LED is actually creating the color that is needed. This is what creates the more dynamic picture, giving OLED TVs a nicer picture than LED TVs.

For some, the LED TV is going to be the perfect purchase. For others, the OLED TV is the best option. If you are in the market for a new HDTV, you simply need to sit down and evaluate your options. You need to know the positives and negatives about both types of TVs to ensure that you make the best purchase for your home.

LCD Wall Mounts Installation Tips

Wall mounting a picture or a piece of art is quite simple. You may appreciate it better if you are a professional artist. Once you finish your masterpiece you get it framed, find a suitable place to hang the picture and hang it.

There ends the matter. However, LCD wall mounts are comparatively difficult, particularly if you want to do it yourself.

The first step would be to ascertain whether the model can be wall mounted. This can be ascertained by checking the box or the owner's manual if it contains a mention of the words 'VESA Compatible' or just VESA mount. VESA is an acronym for "Video Electronics Standards Association" and it implies that the TV can be wall mounted. Next comes the most difficult part - selecting an appropriate mount for your LCD TV. You have to also consider whether you want a tilt to your LCD TV wall mount since a wall mount which is capable of a tilt can help reduce glare from a window, which was not anticipated.

As regards mounts, there are a variety of ready made wall mounts available in the market. You have wall mounts which permit tilting, rotating and swiveling movements, and also shift from landscape to portrait position just by rotating. The swivel and tilts can also be set to resist movement or permit limited movement. There are models which allow or can carry specific weights. You also have types with arms that allow folding so that the LCD TV is seated flat against the wall. You can also select a wall mount based on the LCD TV size.

Once you purchase the mount according to your liking, you have to decide whether to do the LCD wall mount yourself or to call in a professional. If you are going to do it yourself then the following can be used as guidelines.

The first step in mounting an LCD will be to decide where the LCD mount will be. The degree of difficulty will depend upon the location of where you intend to mount the LCD since you have to take into consideration a host of factors including protrusions on the walls, the distance from the electric socket to the place where the LCD mount will be, etc. You can read more information on lcd televisions at http://www.toplcdtelevisions.com

Second ensure that the tool kit contains all the tools necessary for a mount. Many a time when you begin work and after some progress has been made, you find that you lack a particular tool and ultimately end up calling the
professional, after having done half the job yourself. And just because you had done part of the job he is not going
to give you a discount either. So, if you are not sure whether you have all the tools necessary for the job, better call the professional right away.

Tools you may need for wall mounting the LCD TV:

Tape measure

Screwdrivers

A socket set

Cordless drill

Stud finder

The above provides you with some inputs and some precautions you need take into consideration to wall mount LCD TVs.

LCD TV's - How To Choose The Right One For You

If you're interested in buying an LCD TV, then you probably already know that they can be very expensive. As such, it makes sense to get the best LCD TV for your room, and with the features that you want.

But it can be difficult finding the best LCD TV. There's lots of different companies, all with good models with their own pros and cons. So how can you find the best TV for you?

This is what I'm going to help you with today. So let's get started.

If you've got the internet (and let's face it, how are you reading this if you don't?) then this is one of the best places to start your search. There's plenty of comparison sites out there which can help you weigh up the pros and cons quicker.

But before you decide on what kind of TV you want, it's a good idea to check in your local TV store and get an idea of what the LCD TV's look like. It's hard to get an idea between a 32" and a 37" TV without seeing one in real life.

Now the features you need for your LCD TV will vary, but something you will definitely want is something that is HD ready. This stands for high definition, and everything will be broadcast in HD eventually, so it makes sense to get ready for it now.

Some other features to take into consideration are the viewing angle, and the contrast. The contrast especially has a big impact on the picture quality of your TV. This is another reason why it makes sense to see a few TV's in the flesh first, to get an idea of what contrast rating looks good enough to you. Obviously the more you spend the better the TV in most cases. But by seeing a few TV's in the flesh, you can make a better informed compromise between cost and quality.

Finally, once you've decided upon an LCD TV that looks good to you, see if you can find some reviews for it online. Now you can't always trust everyone's opinion, especially if they have a grudge against a particular company. But if all you can find is bad reviews, then maybe it's worth staying away from that particular TV. When reading a review, try to find specific pros and cons for the TV rather than jus someone saying whether they like it or not.

I hope these few tips will help you to find the best LCD TV for you. There's plenty of choice out there, and it can get confusing. But if you stick to these tips you can't go far wrong.

3D TV Converter - Can You Change Your 2D Television to 3D?

With the recent release of a plethora of 3-dimensional feature films, the desire for 3D televisions in the home has risen dramatically. If you have seen films like Disney's Up or James Cameron's Avatar with special RealD glasses, you know that 3D can make one's viewing experience much more enjoyable. In fact, Avator has been critically acclaimed to have the best visuals of any film, ever (thanks in large part to its use of 3-D).

The problem is, although people want 3D in their homes, many people don't want to dish out the money for a new, "3D-ready" LCD display. So, the concept of buying a 3D TV Converter has been introduced to the public.

These 2D to 3D converters are surprisingly inexpensive: around $100. They have been around for a while (since as early as 2004), but have not had that much popularity. But in 2009 and early 2010, the sales of these products have shown a marked increase.

The problem is, these converters offer only cheap imitations of real 3D. They don't actually make anything 3-dimensional. Rather, these converters just split the image on your TV into 2 images, then uses polarized lenses to make the image on your display "pop out". However, the converters add no depth to the image.

On real 3-D ready televisions, the background of videos look like they are flush with the TV screen, while objects on the foreground pop out. The difference between the background and the foreground is what makes watching 3D movies enjoyable. Without depth, you are just watching the same movie, except the whole thing looks slightly enlarged.
